Last year, rumors claimed that Sony’s 2018 smartphones could use OLED displays . This did not really happen with the launch of the Xperia XA2 but again, it is possible that Sony has reserved the use of technology for their flagship devices.

Through a recently discovered employment list (via Xperia Blog ), it seems that there is more evidence that this is true. The job list calls a “display engineer” where he claims to have experience with OLED technology as being a “must”. The list was published in November 2017 and is due to expire in February, which coincides quite often with the CMM’s decision.

Of course, that this so-called Sony smartphone with an OLED screen to be announced then remains to be seen. It is not clear exactly where Sony is going with its OLED development, and it will be able to do it in time for MWC. An alternative is at IFA 2018 which is scheduled for the end of the year, although we hope we will not have to wait too long for this to happen, but we will keep our eyes open for more information.
